About Bulgaria

Bulgaria i/bʌlˈɡɛəriə/ officially the Republic of Bulgaria a country in Southeast Europe. Once a country behind the Iron Curtain Bulgaria to many of the western eyes was filled with cold war assassinations and spy games behind the Eastern block. Bulgaria today is in a different era then it was 12 years ago. Bulgaria has a lot to offer the photographer, now rated as one of the top holiday location globally.
Bulgaria is bordered by five countries: Romania to the north, Serbia and Macedonia to the west, and Greece and Turkey to the south.

A territory of 42,855 sq miles Bulgaria ranks as the 15th-largest country in Europe. Several mountainous areas define the landscape, most notably Stara Planina (the Balkan mountains) and Rhodope mountain ranges, as well as the Rila range, which includes the highest peak in the Balkan region. In contrast, the Danubian plain in the north and the Upper Thracian Plain in the south represent Bulgaria’s lowest and most fertile regions. The 235 miles Black Sea coastline covers the entire eastern shoreline of the country.
